On Sunday July 18 a strong series of storms pummeled the tri-city area. At 18:40 the first alarm was issued for a number of powerlines down in the Boston Street area of town. Shortly after a second and third alarms were issued for a tree on a vehicle in the rural street area and multiple powerlines and trees down on Oil Ridge Road, Gamble Run, and Slider Run Road. Rescue 6, Engine 5, Squad 4, and Squad 7 responded with 12 firefighters to the various incidents. Sistersville Vol. Fire Department was notified to assist in covering calls in the hilltop portion of the district on Oil Ridge and Buck Run Road due to the inability to respond to those location from Paden City due to the storm damage. The fire company operated for 4 hours before returning to service after midnight.
