Tuesday, Nov. 13th - Paden City Vol. Fire Co. has received the 2008 GMC 2500 H.D. back from Mountaineer Fire & Rescue. The truck now features a L.E.D. / Strobe Light package as well as reflective stripping and lettering. The truck will head to Marietta, Ohio later next week to add a brush guard, bed liner, and running boards. A special thanks goes out to the local community for your continued support of our fundraisers that allow us to replace and upgrade our fire and rescue equipment.
Wednesday, Dec. 12th - Company 4 has added a few new tools to its firefighting and rescue arsenal. Engine 1 and Engine 5 are now equipped with a Pro-Pak Foam System that allows firefighters to utilize the handheld unit to quickly apply a foam blanket on a fire or certain hazardous spills. Rescue 6 has added a Global Positioning Unit that will aid in setting up landing zones for HealthNet. Finally Tanker 8 will soon be equipped with a 2500 gallon dump tank to help with combating water shortage in rural settings.
Sunday, Nov. 4th - Company 4 was alerted late Sunday evening for two incidents. The first incident was a reported car fire however, the owner was able to extinguish the fire prior to Company 4's arrival. The second incident was a two vehicle accident near the Sunoco Gas Station on Route 2. Rescue 6 and Squad 4 responded with 9 personnel to assist with clean-up and traffic control. Both vehicles sustained severe damage however, there was only one minor injury in this incident handled by WCEMS.
Monday, Nov. 12th - Company 4 was notified early Monday morning to set up a landing zone for Healthnet responding to a medical emergency in the Paden Fork/Route 180 area. This happened to be the second landing zone set-up in the same location in two weeks. A total of 7 units responded on two trucks, units operated on-scene for approximately forty minutes.
Sunday, Oct. 28th - Company 4 was notified early Sunday Morning to assist New Martinsville Company 2 with a working structure fire on Apple Street. Crews from Engine 202 and 207 arrived shortly after dispatch and began an aggressive interior attack preventing additional fire spread, Co. 4 arrived and performed overhaul of the structure, approximately 24 firefighters responded to the incident utilizing 5 engines and two support vehicles. The cause of the fire has been determined to be cooking related.
Thursday, Nov. 1st - Winter months are notorious in this area for several chimney fires. The Chimney Safety Institute of America has announced tips to aid in the prevention of chimney fires and carbon monoxide intrusion and to help keep heating appliances and fireplaces functioning properly.
