Chief Richmond Nominated for National Award
Thu. Mar 4th 2010

At the helm of the Paden City Volunteer Fire Company is fire fighter Jim Richmond, a veteran firefighter that continues to serve after 57 years. The volunteer Fire Chief for 45 years, Jim loves the job and says that it's not a vocation for me, it's a challenge. A Fire Service Instructor himself, he continues to attend regular in-service training. He attends seminars and conferences around the state working attentively to keep fire company members up to date on safety, policies, procedures, techniques and equipment. A master fund raiser, Chief Richmond is at the front of fund raising activities always working to ensure the Paden City Fire Company and its members are well equipped, well trained and well informed. One of the original members of the State Fire Commission, current member and former president of the West Virginia State Fire Chiefs Association, Jim Richmond is well known and respected throughout the firefighting community in West Virginia. Conscientious, very modest and soft spoken, Jim is a husband and father and doesn't have much time for fishing but he enjoys woodworking when he can find the time. Being a firefighter is a huge part of his life and will be for some time to come. Hats are off to Chief Richmond for his many years of service to the community.
