Over the weekend the Wetzel County Firefighter's Association hosted the first delivery of the Decision Making for Initial Company Operations in the State of West Virginia.  The course was developed and taught through the National Fire Academy in partnership with West Virginia University Fire Service Extension.  The class covered a number of issues faced by firefighters in the early onset of a structural type fire including: single family dwellings, commercial occupancies, industrial occupancies, and high-occupancy structures.  The course went into detail on causes of firefighter fatalities and burn time consideration due to construction type and furnishings. This course is part of series of three course: preparing, descision making, and strategies and tactics.  The course was attended by several members of the Paden City Vol. Fire Company and the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department.
